From October 16 to 20, Dr Zuhal Kundurac\u0131lar, professor of Istanbul University of Health Sciences and physiotherapist, visited the Rehabilitation Department of the Faculty of Medicine of Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution (HEI). During the visit, the professor conducted practical sessions for the students of the Kinesitherapy study programme on cardiological rehabilitation after heart surgery and demonstrated breathing control techniques applied in the postoperative period.<\/p>\n

Dr Z. Kundurac\u0131lar also gave lectures to the students of the Occupational Therapy study programme. The physiotherapist gave lectures to students about rehabilitation in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and practically demonstrated breathing exercises for patients with this disease.<\/p>\n

During the visit, the professor also inspected the practical training auditoriums of the Faculty of Medicine, familiarised herself with ongoing project and scientific activities, and met with the coordinator of international relations. During the visit, further opportunities for cooperation in the field of applied science were discussed, ideas were shared about the promotion of student exchange for studies and practice in both Lithuania and Turkey.<\/p>\n

On 23\u201326 October, another lecturer from Istanbul University of Health Sciences Gulhane Faculty of Health Sciences visited the Department of Rehabilitation \u2013 Associate Professor Dr Serkan Pakcetin. He gave a lecture to the 3rd<\/sup> year students of the Occupational Therapy study programme about the role of the occupational therapist and helping premature newborns, the challenges of sensory integration, the need to adapt the environment when providing services to such a vulnerable group of patients.<\/p>\n

During the visit, further opportunities for cooperation were discussed with the guest from Turkey \u2013 the development of joint scientific research and the publication of their data in scientific articles.<\/p>\n
