\"\"<\/a>On October 28th<\/sup> at 11:00 am, we invite you to the presentation of the historical novel \u2018The Ninth Fort\u2019. The author of the book is Roberto Valdes, a lecturer at the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Technologies. The Faculty is proud of this achievement, considering it an inspiring example of how technology and engineering specialists can meaningfully contribute to the cultivation of art, culture and collective memory. R. Valdes\u2019 work becomes a bridge between different disciplines and between generations.<\/span><\/p>\n

The plot of the novel \u2018The Ninth Fort\u2019 is based on real events that took place in Kaunas during the Nazi occupation. Telling the stories of several Jewish families, the work reveals the difficult living conditions in the ghetto and the tragic march to the Ninth Fort. Combining historical research with a compelling narrative, the author conveys not only the dark trials of the past, but also the unfading light of human strength.<\/span><\/p>\n

Although the events described in the book took place over eighty years ago, the novel remains relevant today. It reminds us of the dangers of indifference, the fragility of peace, and the need to remember history not only as a testimony of suffering, but also as a call to empathy and understanding.<\/span><\/p>\n

The programme of the presentation includes an introductory speech by the author, live readings of excerpts, a presentation of historical photographs from the Kaunas Ghetto and the Ninth Fort, and a short trailer for the film, filmed in authentic locations. The event will end with an open discussion.<\/span><\/p>\n

About his work, R. Valdes says: \u2018This novel is not just about the past. It is about how we look at each other today: about compassion, the stories that shape us, and the responsibility that we all share.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n

We invite all members of the Kauno kolegija community and the general public to join this event. Together, let us honour the memory of those who lived through these events and celebrate the power of literature to help us understand history through the prism of humanity.<\/span><\/p>\n
